FSB: Business insolvency advice customers must plan for fuel costs

Date Added: 15/02/2011

Budgeting for fuel needs to be an integral part of the financial planning made by firms such as those taking business insolvency advice.

This is according to the Federation of Small Business (FSB), which criticised the coalition government for not introducing a fuel price stabiliser as it is thought to be too difficult to do so.

National chairman of the FSB John Walker stated that high fuel prices are having a "huge" impact on members of the organisation, which could include firms already taking business insolvency advice.

"A fuel duty stabiliser can be easily introduced and must be put in place. Without it, small firms are just going to be left simply trying to survive," he said.

The Freight Transport Association and the Road Haulage Association are among the bodies in the transport sector to be calling for the coalition government to scrap a planned fuel duty rise for April, as well as bringing in the stabiliser.
