Businesses receiving company debt advice in Birmingham could benefit from promoting a culture of open communication.

According to Everything Everywhere, a union of Orange and T-Mobile, this is "a must for business leaders".

However, spokesman Martin Lyne insisted that this philosophy must not be restricted solely to face-to face communication.

"The rise of smartphones means business leaders can have a range of communication channels in their pocket," he commented.

For instance, he noted that the devices allow people to get in touch with each other by making video calls or sending emails.

Mr Lyne added that firms may benefit from ensuring they have a strong presence on social networking sites such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.

He said this would be a good way of enabling them to raise their profiles.

This comes after Everything Everywhere revealed that the entrepreneurs behind Britain's most successful companies all demonstrated a number of shared traits, such as good communication skills and the ability to embrace and make good use of new innovations.
