Development of new homes completed despite liquidation of contractor

Date Added: 14/09/2011

The liquidation of a contractor has not prevented a development of council homes from being completed.

When Rok was served with a winding up order, work at 12 new council houses in Lawrence Weston was temporarily halted until a new firm could be found to come in and finish the project, reports Insider Media.

Mansell Partnership Homes took over in December 2010 and tenants are now preparing to move into the properties.

Anthony Negus, Bristol Council cabinet member for housing, property services and regeneration, stated that he is "very pleased" the project has now been completed.

He said: "We are continuing to work with our partners to explore other ways in which we can provide more accommodation, such as bringing empty properties back into use."

Caerphilly Borough Council recently stated that it is "saddened" by the liquidation of Zonner Industries, a firm it had supported through the award of a grant, the Campaign Series reported.
