Weather 'could cause payment misery' for company insolvency advice customers

Date Added: 21/12/2010

The weather could be set to cause major issues for organisations such as those which are currently taking company insolvency advice.

According to Bacs Payment Schemes Limited, delays to postal payments due to the adverse weather conditions making it hard for Royal Mail to deliver on time could have a negative impact on millions of Britons.

It estimates that as many as 3.4 million bills are paid using the postal system.

Mike Hutchinson, head of marketing at Bacs, stated that Direct Debit and online banking services could be used by company insolvency advice customers to avoid this issue.

"Direct Debit can provide the peace of mind that - irrespective of the weather - bill payments will not be delayed and late penalties will be avoided," he said.

Last month, Bacs was celebrating winning the top prize in the Best Use of PR category at the B2B Marketing Awards 2010 for its campaign raising the issue of how company insolvency advice customers are affected by late payments.
