Corporate debt consultancy customers warned of disaffected employees

Date Added: 25/01/2011

Firms taking advice from a corporate debt consultancy have been reminded of the potential impact unhappy employees can have on their business.

Dilys Robinson, principal research fellow at the Institute for Employment Studies, stated that this time of year is traditionally when employees are feeling more disaffected.

She explained that things have been made worse as a result of the after-effects of the recession, as well as the public spending cuts which have been imposed by the government, along with the rise in VAT and fuel duty.

Ms Robinson added that corporate debt consultancy customers may have found a "Blitz spirit" during the recession as financial problems brought the workforce closer together - but this has now ended.

"Many workers are probably thinking that 'enough's enough' and that they're now entitled to some reward from all the belt-tightening," she said.

Her comments come after a survey conducted by Badenoch & Clark found that almost a quarter of all workers in the UK are not happy with their job.
