Club goes into receivership to avoid winding up order

Date Added: 07/07/2011

Rushden & Diamonds Football Club has gone into receivership in a bid to avoid a winding up order that had been served.

Chief executive officer of the club Steve Beasant said he is now looking into the possibility of a Company Voluntary Agreement (CVA) with the creditors that are owed cash.

Speaking to the Northants Evening Telegraph, he remarked: "Receivership shrouds the club from the winding-up order and we can look at the options.

"We have to look at whether a CVA allows the club to go forward."

Mr Beasant pointed out that more debts are mounting for the club, with maintenance costs for the ageing buildings cited as one reason for the financial struggles.

Rushden and Diamonds are still not sure what league they will be able to play in next season if the team survives these testing times, after they were expelled from the Conference National as the organisers could not guarantee they would complete their fixtures for the 2011/2012 campaign.
