Business debt help customers urged to cut data centre energy consumption

Date Added: 24/02/2011

Firms taking business debt help have been encouraged to think about cutting their data centre energy consumption.

Josh Boulton, publisher at bi-monthly online publication Green IT Magazine, stated that data centres can use the equivalent amount of energy as 3,000 homes.

He claimed that reducing the energy used at a company, such as one taking business debt help, is the biggest saving it is able to make and explained that it is a "logical" move..

"With oil prices climbing every day and the cost of energy going up, it's one area where ... you see an impact on your bottom line straight away," said Mr Boulton.

He added that cutting energy use at an organisation by even half of one per cent is likely to have a major impact.

Devoteam's second European Green IT Survey recently revealed that improving energy efficiency is a large priority for 90 per cent of companies.
